40 is the old age of youth,

50 is the youth of old age – Victor Hugo

Hey there and welcome to Lisa After 50!

This is my little corner of the cyber world where I’ll be sharing my passion for marriage, family, cooking, home and my lifestyle after 50!

A little about me

As far back as I can remember I’ve always loved the start to finish process of creating; whether it’s creating a beautiful space or table scape, planning an elaborate event, family dinner, charcuterie and cocktails by the pool or a sexy date night with my husband – I thrive on preparation! It took me years to realize this desire in me to make “events” out of everyday life was not rooted in the need to “show off”, but it was actually a gift from God. He blessed me with the gift of creativity and hospitality, as well as the ability to encourage others to enjoy life. I think this is what drives me to want to share my ideas with anyone who is looking or inspiration.

Like many 50 plus year old women, I have questioned my identity, struggled with my weight and appearance, experienced the ups and downs of raising children, and wondered on many occasions if God perhaps made a mistake by placing 2 nineteen year olds together and expecting us to build a life together, raise a family, pay bills, and stay together forever. FOREVER! AND still like each other??
Well, thank goodness I hung in there and trusted God’s plan, because my husband and I are now empty nesters and enjoying the second half of our lives more than we ever dreamed possible!

After 50 plus years of life, over 31 years of marriage (together for 36) and parenting for 30 years, I’ve learned a few things…
I’ve learned it’s okay to respectfully ask questions and not blindly follow those in authority. I’m no longer afraid of voicing my opinion and standing up for what I believe is right. Because of this I’ll also be sharing my thoughts and opinions on everything from politics, parenting, religion, and even sex! – Buckle up ! ; )

I’ll also share a few lessons that life has taught me through the many mistakes I’ve made along the way.
By no means do I think I have it all figured out or that my thoughts and opinions should be yours. I will simply share what God places on MY heart. If it resinates with you, wonderful! If not, that’s okay too.

My intention for this blog

I want to inspire you in whatever manner that may be – Trying a new recipe, planning a date night, setting a table, ideas for dressing our not so perfect, aging physique, etc. I may inspire you to develop  the courage to stand up for what you believe and not care what others think. Or you may just get inspired to appreciate where you are in life and start looking for new ways to have fun!

My prayer is that you simply get inspired to enjoy life!

Y’all, tomorrow isn’t promised and life is too precious and way too short not to enjoy it NOW!
