Ingredients

  • *1 Cup Flour
  • 1/4 Cup Cornstarch
  • 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/4 Tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Cup Buttermilk
  • 1/2 Cup Melted Butter
  • 1 Egg (room temperature and separated)
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Pure Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  1. Beat egg white until stiff peak forms and set aside
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all dry, white ingredients and mix well.
  3. Add milk, butter, egg yolk, sugar and vanilla and mix until barely blended. DO NOT over mix. A few lumps are okay.
  4. Fold in egg white until thoroughly combined. Try not to deflate the fluffiness of the egg whites. (this gives you the light ad crisp texture)
  5. Let the batter sit for 30 minutes
  6. Heat waffle iron and cook per directed by your waffle iron manufacturer
