The Gift of Wrapping
“For me, wrapping is not only a meaningful flourish – it is also my deeply centering preparation. Wrapping must be done in secrecy, so in those busy weeks of shopping and parties, those hours are the only ones I spend alone. And when wrapping gifts, I’m thinking about their recipients… It seasons me for the season. I don’t wrap gifts for others, not really. Wrapping gifts is the gift I give myself.”
– Beth Ann Fennelly, Southern Living
I couldn’t agree more with Beth Ann. Wrapping gifts is one of my favorite things during the Christmas season. I usually save it for a time when I’m home alone.
I turn on all the Christmas lights, light a fire or candles; depending on the climate and turn on my Christmas Jazz playlist.
It’s such a wonderful time of reflection as I wrap each gift and think about how much I love the person I’m wrapping it for.
Throughout the holiday season, I display the gifts all over our home for decoration.
On Christmas Eve, after everyone goes to bed, I place them all in our family room and group them by each persons paper color of choice.
Here are just a few of my treasures….
